Easton Ghost Unlimited Review

AT A GLANCE

The #1 Easton Ghost Unlimited is built for Power Hitters with good bat swing speed. This bat, in -8 and -9 drops, enables strong hitters to leverage their natural strength with maximum direct energy transfer and an end-loaded design that brings more barrel mass to the ball. This creates top exit velocity when the Power Hitter extends her arms and drives the ball.

  • Stiff, one-piece bat provides direct energy transfer leveraging the hitter’s raw power

  • End-loaded design brings more mass toward the end of the barrel

  • Overall construction results in top exit velocity when this Ghost Unlimited is squared up

  • Exceptionally large sweet spot lets Power Hitters maximize exit velocity on off-center hits

  • Best fit for aggressive Power Hitters with good bat swing speed when using end-loaded bats with -8 or -9 drops

  • The Coach’s pick as The #1 Fastpitch Softball bat for Power Hitters

Updated 03/21/2026

The Easton Ghost Unlimited provides more power than other Ghost models. When the Power Hitter extends her arms in a hard swing, the ball jumps with authority and carries through the outfield gaps or over the fence. This power shows up as:

Power & Exit Velocity

Wh

Strong Power Hitters who attack pitches, generate good bat speed and swing with a slight uppercut will get the most out of this composite barrel. Even hitters who frequently hit off-center pitches will find themselves hitting more balls hard that used to be weak flyballs.

Swing Weight & Feel

The Easton Ghost Unlimited bat swings heavier than balanced Ghost fastpitch softball bats because of its end-loaded construction. Lesser-strength (or younger) Power Hitters will swing late with this Ghost so they should look for balanced models. Also, this one-piece Ghost Unlimited bat may provide a “stingingvibration on mis-hits or in cold weather so strong hitters will have to tolerate it and/or wear batting gloves to mitigate the sensation.

Once timing is dialed in, Power Hitters will swing more confidently, commit earlier and attack the ball - especially on inside pitches.

Sweet Spot & Forgiveness

For a power bat, the sweet spot is very generous. This means Power Hitters will see more balls carry further rather than watching mis-hit flyballs settle in the outfielder’s glove, helping “middle-of-the-order” hitters be more impactful for their team.

Break-in & Durability

The Easton Ghost Unlimited requires a moderate break-in period of 3+ batting practices (50-100 swings rotating the barrel 1/4 turn after each hit). After the break-in period:

Durability reviews on the Easton Ghost Unlimited are mixed — not catastrophic but worth noting. What we consistently see:

  • Holds up well for Power Hitters with clean contact

  • More stress placed on the barrel by Power Hitters who mis-hit often

  • Bat fatigue starts to set in by the end of one season of play

  • Note: Some reviewers have complained that Easton has been difficult to deal with regarding warranty claims and returns

  • Barrel response improves

  • Exit Velocity stabilizes

  • Feel becomes more predictable

The Easton Ghost Unlimited bat is not ideal for Contact Hitters or Slap Hitters (or younger players) who struggle to generate enough bat swing speed with end-loaded bats. They will swing late and even solid hits will feel “dead”.

FINAL VERDICT

The Easton Ghost Unlimited is the most aggressive Ghost that Easton has made, blending outstanding exit velocity with a forgiving barrel.

Price vs. Value

At the premium Price (MSRP) of $499.99, the Easton Ghost Unlimited makes sense only if you fit the hitter profile.

You ARE paying for:

  • Direct Energy Transfer of the Power Hitter’s natural strength AND increased barrel mass to reach max power output (exit velocity)

  • A large sweet spot

  • Consistent barrel response

  • High-end composite performance

You ARE NOT paying for:

  • Balance to maximize bat swing speed or control to better adjust swing plane mid-pitch

  • Enhanced vibration control (“stinging” reduction)

  • Durability-first construction

This Ghost Unlimited bat is built for Power Hitters who bat “middle-of-the-order” for one reason: To hit the ball hard and far. It shines in the hands of physically strong hitters who bring sheer raw energy to the point of the “bat meets ball” collision.

The Coach: See how the Easton Ghost Unlimited compares to the #2 one-piece bat: The Marucci Asura Lux.

  • More long flyballs (HOMERUNS!!!)

  • Deep gap shots rather than short flyballs

  • Consistent distance on repeated hard contact

My final advice:

  • Use it sparingly in practice (other than break-in period), saving it for games

  • Don’t use it in weather under 60 degrees

  • Always check the bat’s Certification standing for the Association, League or Tournaments where you plan to use it

  • Make certain you understand both Easton’s and your selected retailer’s warranties and return policies
